Guide

Prof Harris Dimitropoulos

The project is an addition to the existing Architecture East building at Georgia Tech, to tackle loneliness on campus. The Vierendeel truss system in this design enables the creation of diverse floor plates that interact both physically and visually, forming a network of interconnected spaces, each with its unique character. As the architect, I utilized modular screen panels for the partitions, which can be reconfigured according to the users’ needs. This approach empowers users by giving them the flexibility to personalize their environment, fostering a sense of belonging and ownership that is crucial in reducing feelings of loneliness on campus.
The design caters to a wide range of student needs by providing opportunities for both controlled social interaction and privacy.
This adaptability ensures that students can choose spaces that best suit their activities, whether they seek collaborative workspaces or quiet areas for individual study, thereby enhancing their overall campus experience and well-being.
